My Favorite Mistake

All of my mistakes have made me who I am today. I'm not proud of the past things I've done, but they have really been able to help me grow more as a person. But the one that I would label "My favorite " would be getting into the system. I used to get into fights all the time, go out partying every weekend, would drink constantly to block out reality and A LOT of other not so very smart things.

I think the most pathetic one was when I would cut school. I used to do almost ANYTHING to get out of class. Once, I was sitting in French, and my teacher got used to the fact, that every time I would "go to the bathroom", I wouldn't ever come back until lunch;) One specific day in that period,I got a text that I had to be somewhere four blocks away in 10 minutes at the latest. Haha, I kept asking and asking to get a drink or whatever, and she kept saying no. So finally, I waited till she turned her back, and I just slipped out.

My truancy got so bad that the Provo High School cop, would always walk around the halls during class to find me. I finally decided that sleeping out in the open or just walking out, wasn't working anymore, and the cop was always at the doors , so I started sleeping on top of the damn vending machines! He would walk by and never even notice me knocked out right above him!

Long story short, without all of those mistakes in the beginning of my freshman year, I wouldn't have learned how important my education really is to me. I’m a bit ashamed of a few of the stupid and pointless stuff I've done, but at the end of the day, it's hilarious to look back on wondering what the hell I was thinking.

Angel, your mistake made me realize that I too have made a ton of those mistakes. I use to cut school to go hang with older guys, and that is a huge regret. I use to get drunk by myself almost everyday, for the same reasons as you. I didn't want to face reality. In my eyes I was living the life, I had everything I ever wanted!

I had really bad truancy too. I hated school. That's one of the main reasons i got transferred to Summit Middle. I didn't know you back them but I know you know and your an amazing person!! (:

I like this one because you have made mistakes but you ended up learning from them, which is a good thing. I have made so many mistakes, but the thing is I'm still learning from them. So it's so great that you learned from it when it happened.

Hahaha oh my gosh! This made me laugh. But I see where your coming from. I used to be the same besides I didn't sleep on top of a vending machine haha. I would always find an excuse to get out of class or not go to school. I would always get truancy letters that if I kept missing school or classes I would have truancy classes. So I decided to start going to every class but then I found myself so behind in work that I startd ditching school & some classes, with time I finally got truancy classes which I decided to not attend & make things worse which lead to truancy court, bummer. But little did I not know the things I was getting myself into or doing. I pretty much lost my education & got way behind in credites which it sucks now because I have to do packets, sucks! But I'm not gonna lies, I do regret messing up in school, it's probably one of my biggest mistakes ever, not my favorite though haha. But now that I'm on track to graduate I'm so happy I always take a step back & look at my past & compare it to now & there's a huge difference. If I could go back & change something about my past it would be school, I would make sure to go to each class & on time. But I love school now, I don't know maybe because it's Summit.

You have learned a valiant lesson you have learned school is important. If it got to the point you had to slep on the vending machine then you should of either went to bed earlier or stayed home during the day then go to night school. Hopefully you stay in school and graduate and do something in your life other than sleeping in a corner.

I'm right with you on what the hell was I thinking to do something so stupid, and it is funny to look back on. I hated school more than anything since fifth grade. Anything else was better. I began missing months at a time, using the same excuse "I'm sick". Four years and I'm barley starting to catch back up. Being at summit is probably the longest I've been in school. And I absolutely love it, it's super easy, but it's just what I need to get myself back on my feet. School is something I look forward to now.

Angel! Don't be cutting class. It's bad for you. I used to cut class too, but I didn't make excuses do get out. I'd just tell my caseworker I was home smoking some weed, I messed up with that, because I'd probably graduate by now, but not anymore. Dont do drugs and stay in school. Love you dude.

I like this because I've been the same but not the bad things. I was never home to help anyone else because I thought that nobody was there. I hope that you had someone there if not I'm always here and so are other people. No one is ever in this alone.

I feel ya, ha I was never in class. I had sixty four absences and thirty six tardiness in one term. Hell, I never thought ofmhoppin up on the vending machine though. But I think it's the stupid mistakes like this that help us learn. Like you said it helped you appreciate education.

I like this because you realize how your education is important in your life. I think everyone does whatever just to get out of class. It's just part of our human nature. I think it's funny that you were on top of the vending machine. I would had never thought of that.

This post is kind of funny. It shows the extent we will go through to do something that we are addicted to. We get so desperate, and sometimes, we can't control our desperation.

It's a good thing that you kept pushing yourelf. I like this one because everyone has to look back at their past. It always helps people. Keep your head up and keep going forward.

Great idea! If I ever need a break from Summit students, you know where I'll be. :) Glad you value education. You make this Asian teacher proud.
