New obnoxious pop music with bad meanings behind it should die with 2013
A main reason why pop music should die out is because it is way to over played. I think hearing the same old crapy song after song, day after day, and month after month. Even if the songs do have good meaning it still gets old hearing it over again especially since half of them don't even have a good beat. I even used to listen to that genre of music and I think that they genre is lame.
There are some good things I can agree with about pop music. One some songs have good rhythm or beats to them and two very few songs have a good meaning behind it. I just want some good music back like heavy metal most of the songs have a really good meaning behind them and actually have things that make real music instead of sound boards that make fake music.
One of my favorite bands five finger death punch about half their songs are patriotic and if not they all have a good or at least the ones that aren't patriotic about 90% of them do have a good meaning behind them. Most of the pop songs talk about sex, drugs and violence so they don't have good intentions. Then what do you think happens if songs do not have good intentions? If you don't then it teaches kids to do all those things then we will have more trouble makers and people trying to legalize pot and other illegal drugs. We definitely don't need anymore murderers or gang bangers.
Then there is rap you can't understand a word they say and they just talk about violence, drugs and having sex with every girl they meet. With rap, kids don't need to be exposed to this much violence let alone learn about sex at young ages. With how they talk about, sex and the violence together it could make kids think that they both go together and it might cause more rapists, which we don't need also.
I'm not saying that you should go listen to heavy metal or that's what everyone should start making again I'm just saying we need music that needs to have good meaning. Let's think of some meanings that heavy metal has that should be in all music: politics and problems in society. Another thing that music needs to have is being able to release your emotions and express them during your song. I believe music needs to change.

Ian, I agree AND disagree with you. I agree with you because, music is turning into meaningless sound. I disagree with you because, it's not just pop, it's ALL genres of music. My favorite music is country, not the country nowadays but the country that had a meaning behind it. Country has done the same thing pop has. I've listened to some heavy metal and not all heavy metal has meaning either, though they do have a good beat sometimes. What I'm getting at is, it's not just one genre of music, it's all music, and the reason music is changing, in my opinion, is because society is changing.
I agree Ian! Pop, most rap, hip hop, and various other genres have infected music. Pop in particular is a ridiculous excuse for music. It has become so popular when it is empty and vain. There is no talent in autotune and your 12 year old lyrics. Metal however is musics salvation. The talent and effort it takes to scream or growl is unmatched. The guitar work is so intricate in some cases that it is untouchable, I would love to see the beibs try to replicate anything Matt heafy does. All the instrumentals are so complicated its amazing. Plus metals lyrics are always meaningful and deep. I will definitely be a metal head until the day I die!
