Do/Don't Essay

I'm going to tell you the best kept secret to getting good grades. It's actually pretty easy if you try. The two hardest things about getting good grades are, 1. Go to class everyday. 2. Listen to the teacher and don't talk when he is explaining something. If you are already good at that than you should have it down.

Do be on time for class everyday. Some teachers do quizzes right at the start that you can only do if you are on time. They are usually only like 5 or 10 points but 5 or 10 points adds up day by day. Even if they don't do bell quizzes it still doesn't hurt to be on time.

Don't just go to class and just sit there. Even though participation points are a big part in your grade, it isn't just going to be an easy A. Some kids I know think that showing up and taking notes is enough, but if you don't do anything else than it isn't going to be enough, especially when test time comes.

Do take notes and study. Don't study too hard because it is easy to get confused. I try to study more frequently with shorter time periods because than it isn't too much for your brain to take in. Than you practice recalling things better so when it's time for the test you don't freeze up. At least that's what works best for me.

Don't fall asleep in class. I used to struggle with this so much, but then I realized I was wasting so much time. I was wasting my teachers time but even more, I was wasting my time. What's the point of going to a class that I'm going to fail? I might as well stay at home and sleep. Rather than wake up early, drive to school and sleep uncomfortable with my teachers bugging me.

And finally, do put 100% effort into not just doing the work, but understanding it. If you don't completely understand it you may get lucky and pass for awhile but you won't pass your test, even more important you won't know how to apply it to your real life. Then, once again, you're wasting your time in high school and college. You will be stuck with a mediocre career, if that.

But for the love of holy, don't just aim for a passing grade. Try to retain everything you learn and use it to assist you in your career. Even if it is doesn't really have much to do with your career plan, it still doesn't hurt to gain as much knowledge as possible. I believe you can never acquire too much knowledge. After all knowledge is power, and if you are competing with another peer for a position they will choose the one with more skills over the other one any day.

I agreey with that if you just try in class. time will just fiy by for you. And work will be esys if you just pay attention to the teacher then you will start to gain their trust. and if you are laet to class then the teacher will let it go some times if you are lucky.

I agree with this secret. People think that just showing up is enough but it's not. You have to apply yourself. If you don't than you're wasting everybody's time. And all kids seem to care about is that they're passing. They don't care about all the information. I'm the opposite.. I don't care about the letter grade. I care about the information that I'm learning. The way I see it, the grades are just a way to get you on to the next grade. A lot of teachers these days don't even care if you know the information, they only care about that A.

Adam those are excellent ways of passing school. I like how you said that showing up is not the important part but actually paying attention and learning. I do the same thing as you I study 5 minutes a day then my brain tends to remember more about what I learned. You have to think that if you have quizzes everyday and there ten pioneer each then by the end of three weeks that's 150 points on your grade.

I like how you said don't just aim for a passing grade. Because you want to learn the info that was taught in that class. And plus it willo look better for jobs and collage. Plus it makes you feel better about yourself when you get good grades.

I agree with you on being on time.mif you are at school, it's not that hard to focus on class. I understand that friends are at school, but what's more important, hanging out, or getting good grades for a better future for your life?

I love this whole post because I really never tried in school and I missed two whole years of school. I really hate to fall to sleep but I do that anyways. Then there are all those ups and down days that people have and they don't want to do anything. We always start to give up at the end and that's when it counts the most. Thanks for your help Dreads, and I will try using what you said.

Thanks guys, I think all of you are good kids in school. If you apply it to the max and also apply it after high school you have unlimited potential. You're possibilites are endless.

I like yours as a whole I like the on time one. Being on time can have a tremendous effect on your grades. When you are late you miss all sorts of assignments. Missing those worksheets could mean you not graduating. So I like your do and donts there pretty good.

That is some really good advice. It took me till 11th grade to realize that. I would always fall asleep in class and my teacher finely just sayed screw it and let me and my friends sleep. If I would have stayed awake I would of got way better grads. Then I would not have gone to credit recovery and gotten more sleep at home.
